Bo Jackson will address attendees of the AmeriCorps National Service Training Conference about the purpose of his charity bike ride and the importance of service. Immediately following, Jackson will lead a press conference to discuss the fifth annual Bo Bikes Bama, which will take place Saturday, April 30.

Becky Booker, United Ways of Alabama Executive Director, will also be available at the press conference to discuss how funds raised through Bo Bikes Bama have helped rebuild homes and prepare the state for future natural disasters.

Bo Bikes Bama is a charity bike ride started by sports legend Bo Jackson to honor the lives lost during the April 27, 2011 tornadoes and help the state of Alabama recover and prepare for the future. In the past four years, Bo Bikes Bama has attracted approximately 2,000 cyclists from across the country and raised more than $957,000.

Bo Bikes Bama initiatives support the Governor’s Emergency Relief Fund (GERF), which has repaired hundreds of homes and provided community storm shelters throughout the state.

United Ways of Alabama serves as the fiscal agent for GERF, which is administered by Serve Alabama. Producing partners include Nike, Trek Bicycle, Trek Travel, and Big Communications. For more information about Bo Bikes Bama, visit bobikesbama.com.
