Speed cameras in empty Montgomery police cameras will soon be a thing of the past. This, after the governor signed a bill banning their use in Montgomery.

You’d see those empty Montgomery police cars in school zones and other places.  If you speed by one, the automated photo system would send you a ticket in the mail. But, pretty soon that technology will be illegal in the city.

The governor signed the bill into law that gets rid of the speed car cameras in Montgomery. Senator Dick Brewbaker was one of the legislators behind the bill and he said he would have gone for restricting their use in school zones and requested neighborhoods, but that idea didn’t make it through committee. City leaders say they were effective in slowing people down and freeing up officers from traffic duty to do other things.
As of June 1st, speed cars will no longer be allowed to be used in the city.
This legislation doesn’t apply to red light cameras, those are still allowed.
