Goetzman’s walk-off double pushes Biscuits past Smokies 2-1

MONTGOMERY, Ala  (AlabamaNews.Net) — The Biscuits took the first of their five game series against the visiting Tennessee Smokies Monday night, powered by Granden Goetzman’s RBI double with the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, as Montgomery walked off with a 2-1 victory.

Jared Mortensen earned his third win of the year, throwing three innings of scoreless relief after Biscuits starter Chih-Wei Hu gave way in the top of the seventh inning.

Johnny Field tied the game in the sixth inning with a lead-off solo home run. It was Field’s 3rd round tripper of the season.

Montgomery improves to 17-13 as they host the Smokies Tuesday morning, first pitch goes off at 10:25 AM.
