AUM slotted 6th in final regular-season NAIA baseball coaches’ poll
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (aumathletics.com) —– The Auburn Montgomery baseball team moved up one spot to sixth in the final regular-season NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 Baseball Poll, the national office announced Friday afternoon.
The Warhawks finished the regular season with a 42-15 record and received 401 total votes in the poll, holding on No. 7 Westmont by nine points.
Georgia Gwinnett remained the unanimous choice atop the poll, earning 498 points and all 18 first-place nods. The Grizzlies finished the regular season 55-4, with one of those losses coming against the Warhawks. Bellevue (Neb.) was second with 471 points, followed by SSAC foe Faulkner with 464 points. Lewis-Clark State finished fourth with 457 points, while Tennessee Wesleyan was fifth with 440 points.
The Southern States Athletic Conference led all leagues with four teams represented. Joining the Warhawks and Eagles were No. 17 Middle Georgia and No. 25 William Carey.
The Warhawks will return to action Tuesday, May 17, when they open play at the NAIA Baseball Championship Opening Round at the AUM Baseball Complex. AUM will learn its opponents later today.
