Biscuits eclipse Suns for 3rd straight win
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (biscuitsbaseball.com) – Just over 24 hours after enduring their worst losing streak in almost two years, the Biscuits now find themselves on a three-game winning streak, beating the Jacksonville Suns 6-3 on Friday night in downtown Jacksonville.
The victory was the Biscuits first on a Friday this season, as Taylor Guerrieri (3-4) delivered one of his best performances of the year, going a season-high seven innings and allowing just three runs on four hits with five strikeouts and no walks. The Biscuits had been 0-8 on Fridays entering the game, with Friday being the only day of the week in which the Biscuit had yet to record a win.
That would change early on in this one though, as spot starter Hunter Adkins (0-1) was pounded in the second in a five-run barrage by Montgomery. The Biscuits batted around and got RBIs from Jake Hager, Mike Marjama, Pat Blair (2), and Kean Wong before Willy Adames became the third out in his second at-bat of the inning.
The Biscuits would add another run in the following inning on a fielder’s choice by Marjama, as Guerrieri set the Suns down on the mound. The only Jacksonville runs to score were due to two wild pitches and a groundout by Jeremias Pineda. The Biscuits also got a terrific bullpen outing from both Jordan Harrison and Buddy Borden, who picked up his third save of the season.
The Biscuits are back at .500 at 27-27, and will look to win the series and make it four in a row on Saturday at 5:05 PM CT when Ryan Stanek (1-6) will battle Patrick Johnson (2-1).
