New Hotel Coming to Downtown Montgomery

NEWHOTEL PICTURE 1A new hotel is coming to downtown Montgomery.

City officials announced a Staybridge Suites will be built at the corner of Bibb and Lee Streets.

The Staybridge Suites project is the newest building project coming to Montgomery, and city leaders say it’s going to be a big one.

This a huge announcement, that is two years in the making. A $12.5 million project is bringing a Staybridge Suites to downtown Montgomery.

“To be able to have a Staybridge, an all suites in downtown Montgomery, really does break new ground,” Mayor Todd Strange said.

The hotel will be five stories tall with 118 rooms. The lack of an extended stay hotel is what drew Keyser Property Management to downtown.

“What we discovered was there was not a truly extended stay hotel in the downtown area. Most of ours here in Montgomery are located in the east side of Montgomery,” Jake Kyser, Kyser Propery Management Co. President says.

The hotel will bring 50 full and part-time jobs to Montgomery as well as construction jobs for the project.

City officials say the hotel will be built at the current site of the Montgomery Skate Park.

The skate park will be moved and officials hope to keep it in downtown, but for now, they have not chosen a location….

The project is set to break ground in the fall and should be completed in Fall 2017.

In interesting news, the hotel will be built on the original site of the First White House of the Confederacy.
