U.S. Transportation Secretary will Visit Montgomery for Montgomery Bus Boycott Symposium

AP_130429017On Tuesday, June 14, U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx will travel to Montgomery, Alabama to take part in a symposium reflecting on the legacy of the Montgomery Bus Boycott that took place sixty years ago.

Jointly sponsored by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and Alabama State University (ASU), the event at the John Garrick Hardy Student Center will feature remarks from Secretary Foxx about how transportation can connect people to opportunity.

The symposium will also include a conversation with Fred Gray, the attorney who defended Rosa Parks, and ASU President Gwendolyn Boyd, as well as a panel discussion with Stephanie Jones, DOT Chief Opportunities Officer, and Guillermo Mayer, President of Public Advocates in California, who has worked on transportation justice issues for years.
