Public Safety Insurance Fund Supports First Responders
The Public Safety Insurance Fund held their annual banquet Thursday night. The banquet honored the businesses that donate to the fund.
The Public Safety Insurance Fund provides life insurance and accidental death insurance to over 2500 first responders in our area. Since the fund was created in 2002, it has paid $500,000 to the families of first responders.
Co-founder Grant Sullivan explains that this would not be possible without the donations.
“People talk about wanting to do something for policemen and firemen and sheriffs, people that are out there dying for us everyday as we all know,” he explained, “these businesses, these people they did something, and they did something really great.”
Former Alabama Head Football Coach Gene Stallings was the keynote speaker for the banquet and says it is important to support our first responders across the nation.
“Every life matters, I understand that,” he shared, “But we’ve lost quite a few officers in the past week or so, 5 or 6 in Dallas, over in Baton Rouge, just for no reason, where people just shot them.”
Some of the departments that are covered by the fund include the Montgomery Police and Fire Department, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and first responders in Prattville, Wetumpka and Hillbrook.
