Tuscaloosa Co. DA Named to State Pardons and Parole Board
Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley has appointed Tuscaloosa County District Attorney Lyn Head to the Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles.
The Tuscaloosa News reports that Head will join the three-member board Sept. 6, and that Bentley will appoint someone to fill the district attorney position by then.
Head said the board has expanded its objective beyond monitoring paroled or pardoned offenders, and has started to set policies and create a program to further prisoner re-entry efforts.
Head has served as Tuscaloosa’s district attorney since the governor appointed her in 2013.
She ran for re-election, and was defeated in the Republican primary by Hayes Webb in March. Webb faces Democratic challenger Dennis Steverson in the November general election.
Bentley chose Head over four other candidates nominated by a committee.
