Trojans power through “Competition Tuesday”

TROY, Ala. (troytrojans.com)  – Coming off the first two-a-day of fall camp, the Troy football team practiced for just over two hours on Competition Tuesday on the grass practice fields behind Trojan Arena.

Every period featured a competition between the offense and defense and ironically it came down to an overtime situation at the end of practice to decide the winner. The Trojan defense picked up a pair of sacks to stop the offense and claim victory on the day.

The Trojans spent most of the early morning workout squaring off in team, 7-on-7 or 1-on-1 situations and sprinkled in some special teams work as well. The first full scrimmage of camp looms on the horizon as the Trojans will take to the turf of Veterans Memorial Stadium at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

The players will get a rare morning off from practice on Wednesday as they will instead hit the field that afternoon at 2:45 p.m. with referees on hand. The week continues with two practices on Thursday (9 a.m. & 8 p.m.) and one on Friday(2:45 p.m.).

Troy opens the 2016 season on Sept. 3 when it plays host to Austin Peay in the first of six home games in Veterans Memorial Stadium.
