Fmr Auburn hoops trio sign pro contracts
AUBURN, Ala. (auburntigers.com) – Three former Auburn basketball players have signed professional contracts in Europe, Cinmeon Bowers with Yalova of the Turkish Basketball League and KT Harrell with Mens Sana 1871 in SerieA2 in Italy.
Last week, Kenny Gabriel signed a one-year $1 million contract with PBC Lokomotiv Kuban, a Russian professional basketball team in the VTB United League and Euroleague.
The Racine, Wis., native finished second in the SEC in rebounding both years and his 326 rebounds during the 2014-15 season are the second most in a season in Auburn history.
Bowers recorded 14 double-doubles in both seasons, which ranks second in a season at Auburn, dating back to 1972-73, and his 28 career double-doubles rank fifth in school history.
Harrell averaged 5.3 points in four games for the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2015 NBA Summer League and played three games for the New Orleans Pelicans in the 2016 NBA Summer League.
Harrell played for Akhisar Belediye in the Turkish Basketball League last year and led the team in scoring, averaging 16.6 points along with 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists.
As a senior at Auburn, Harrell became the first Tiger since Wesley Person in 1994 to lead the SEC in scoring, averaging 18.5 points per game in 2014-15. The Montgomery, Ala., native also led the SEC and was ranked 10th nationally in 3-point field goal pct. (.434) while averaging a league-best 2.8 made 3s per game. He was ranked sixth in the SEC in field goal pct. (.453).
Harrell was named to the 2015 SEC All-Tournament Team after averaging 21.5 points leading Auburn to the SEC Tournament semifinals as the Tigers won three games in the tournament for the first time in 30 years.
In his two-years at Auburn, Harrell scored 1,196 points, 23rd-most in program history, averaging 18.4 ppg, sixth-best all-time at Auburn. He is second on Auburn’s career free throw pct. list (.839), sixth in career 3-point field goal pct. (.400), eighth in free throws made (296) and ninth in 3-point field goals made (164).
