Alexander City mayoral race goes to runoff election

The Alexander City mayoral election will be going to a runoff between Jim Nabors and the incumbent Charles Shaw.

There were four total candidates in the running for mayor.  Jim Nabors received 47% of the votes but did not reach a majority.  Charles Shaw received 20% of the votes.

Both candidates say they expected the election to go to a runoff.

“I really thought that based upon the situation the city was in that my qualifications made me the best candidate and that all I ever tried to convince people of,” explained Nabors.

“I just plan to hit the ground running and get out and see people,” shared Shaw, “shake their hands, and talk to them and ask them for their vote and see how it goes in October.”

The runoff election will be on October 8th.
