Tuskegee volleyballers drop pair in Spikefest finale

TUSKEGEE, Ala. (goldentigersports.com) —  The Tuskegee University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to St Andrews College and Talladega College on the final day of the Spikefest Tournament at Chappie James Arena.

Tuskegee (0-4) opened up against St Andrews with both teams looking to get their first win of the season.  After the teams traded points in the first set, St Andrews pulled away for a three-set victory over the Lady Golden Tigers.

Janae Graham broke her personal best for assists in a game (18) with 25 on the afternoon. She also added 13 digs for her first double-double of the season, while Zahria Radford led the team in digs with 18.

Nora Darrhar led St. Andrews with 25 of her team’s 54 digs, while Corey Altzier added 17 assists.

In their final match of the day, the Lady Golden Tigers came up short against Talladega in a 3-1 loss. Tuskegee was led by Taliyana Bryant with 12 kills, while Donovan Wingfield added seven and Shani Conoly six in the loss.

Graham added 34 assists, while Radford chipped in with 17 digs.

Tuskegee returns to action next week against Shorter College on the road in Rome.
