Special Session wrap up

The Special Session has come to a close.  Between a lottery bill and the BP settlement, lawmakers had their hands full.

The lottery bill failed in the Senate but the BP bill was passed Wednesday.

Political Analyst Steve Flowers say the bill is only a temporary fix for the Medicaid shortfall.

“How are we going to fund medicaid,” he asked, “it is an exponentially growing money monster that’s eating up the general fund and there’s got to be some resolution long term to how you’re going to pay for the growth in medicaid.”

Governor Bentley signed the BP bill Thursday.
