Cancun Challenge tip times announced for Auburn hoops
AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn will play Texas Tech, a 2016 NCAA Tournament participant, in the Cancun Challenge on Nov. 22 at 5 pm CT at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya.
The Tigers will play either nationally-ranked Purdue or Utah State, which play at 7:30 pm CT, in the championship/consolation at 5 pm/7:30 pm CT on Nov. 23. All four games in the Riviera Division will be televised by the CBS Sports Network.
As part of the Cancun Challenge, Auburn plays host to Georgia State on Nov. 14 and Eastern Kentucky on Nov. 17 in Auburn Arena. Georgia State has won 25 games in two of the last three seasons and defeated Baylor in the 2015 NCAA Tournament. Eastern Kentucky has won 21 or more games three out of the last four years.
Purdue finished last season ranked 12th nationally after going 26-9 and reaching the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year and for the eighth time in the last 10 seasons. Since 2000, Utah State has won seven regular season conference titles and six tournament championships.
