Golden Tigers ready to serve in 16th HBCU National Tennis Championship

TUSKEGEE, Ala. ( — The Tuskegee University tennis teams will participate in the 16th annual HBCU National Tennis Championship tournament at the South Fulton Tennis Center in Atlanta this week. The tournament runs from September 15 through September 18.

The tournament will feature three flights of singles (A, B, and C) and two flights of doubles (A and B), with first round consolation matches for singles only. All doubles matches will be played as an eight-game pro set. Each school was allowed to enter as many as three singles players and two doubles teams in any flight.

The Tuskegee women return the bulk of their team from a season ago, with four returning all-conference performers from a team that finished as the SIAC runner-up. The men return several players from last season, although they lost All-SIAC performer Oshane Trail to graduation.

Trophies will be awarded to first and second place finishers in each flight and first place consolation winners. For every win by your top eight players a point will be awarded to determine the overall team champion.
