(auburntigers.com) – Auburn junior Will Long is in a five-way tie for ninth after the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate second round carding a 2-over 74 at the par 72, 7,039-yard Creekside Course at the Golf Club of Georgia on Saturday. No. 3 Auburn is t-10th with Georgia Tech at 7-over 293-290—583, as 10 of the 17 teams are ranked in the top-25.
Long, a Gastonia, N.C., native, and No. 9 ranked individual in the country, is 2-under 68-74—142. He had birdies on Nos. 1 and 12 as part of his second round.
All-America junior Ben Schlottman climbed 26 spots on the day carding a 2-under 70 to t-17th at 1-over 75-70—145. The Advance, N.C., native birdied Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 5 on the front nine and 11 and 15 on the back.
Senior Ryan Benton fired an even-par 72 with an eagle on the par 5 fifth and birdies on Nos. 10 and 12 to climb six spots and tie for 37th at 3-over 75-72—147.
All-SEC senior Matt Gilchrest and freshman Jovan Rebula are t-50th at 5-over 149.
No. 8 Oklahoma holds the lead at 2-under 283-291—574 followed by No. 21 Texas A&M (291-285—576), No. 7 Virginia (289-287—576), No. 19 Southern California (299-279—578), Duke (285-293—578), No. 9 Wake Forest (299-279—578), No. 13 Stanford (293-286—579), Texas (291-288—579), No. 2 Oklahoma State (293-287—580), No. 3 Auburn and Georgia Tech.
