Next Phase to Widen Elba Bypass Begins Wednesday

road-work1.jpgThe next phase in the continuation and widening of the Elba Bypass (Alabama Highway 203) will begin Wednesday, October 26, weather permitting.

This phase will begin at Taylor Mill Road and end at Alabama Highway 125.  The project will include the addition of lanes to make the highway four lanes, installation of a median, and signal and lighting work.

Motorists should expect delays due to lane closures and reduced speed limits throughout the project and are urged to use caution when traveling through the construction zone.

The $13.3 million contract was awarded to Newell Roadbuilders, Inc., based out of Hope Hull, Ala. who had the lowest bid that met project requirements.  The project will take three to four years to complete.

ALDOT’s mission is to provide a safe, efficient, environmentally sound transportation network across Alabama.  For further information, visit www.dot.state.al.us.
