3 Alabama Men Benefit in Latest Obama Commutations

Among convicts granted sentence commutations by President Barack Obama are three from Alabama. A White House press release Thursday says men from Tuskegee, Jasper and Adamsville each saw their drug-related sentences cut:

-Ernest Moore Jr., of Tuskegee, was sentenced to 180 months in prison in February 2005 for distribution and possession of cocaine base and carrying a firearm during a drug trafficking offense. His sentence is now set to expire Feb. 24.

-Jeffery James Terrell, of Jasper was sentenced to life March 2007 for possession and intent to distribute a cocaine base. His sentence was commuted to expire on Feb. 24.

-Hayzen Turner Jr., of Adamsville, was sentenced to life in December 2007 for distribution of drugs and two firearm charges. His prison sentence was commuted to a term of 180 months.
