Rodriguez shines as Troy wraps up Roberta Allison Classic
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (troytrojans.com) – Troy women’s tennis concludes play at the Roberta Allison Fall Classic hosted by the University of Alabama.
The Trojans got off to a strong start in day one of the tournament with two wins in doubles and seven individual wins in the singles draws.
In the closing day of the tournament, Troy picked up a win in doubles as Nancy Karaky and Alicia Rodriguez defeated an SEC duo from Ole Miss 8-6. In their second doubles match of the day, the pair fell to Tulane in a tough 8-6 match.
Hannah Seizer and Luisa Ferrauti also picked up a doubles win as they defeated Mercer 8-2 before falling to Tulane 8-1 in their second match of the day.
In singles play, Ferrauti recorded a win after a UT Chattanooga opponent withdrew from the match. Seizer continued to dominate the courts, after her two wins in day one, as she defeated Sydney Patton of UT Chattanooga 6-4, 6-4. A hard fought match for Karaky ended in a 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (4) loss for the junior. Herlina faced a great SEC opponent but fell 6-0, 6-3 to Juliana Valero of Alabama. After tough SEC matchups in day one, Sanae Ohta continued to fight hard, but fell 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 to an Alabama opponent. Rodriguez ended the tournament for the Trojans with an impressive 6-0, 6-2 win over Mercer.
