Tuskegee preps for SIAC’s best Spring Hill Friday in Mobile

TUSKEGEE, Ala. (goldentigersports.com) — Coming off of the one of the biggest wins of the year, the Tuskegee University volleyball team will venture south to face the best the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has to offer in Spring Hill College on Friday night.

The match starts at 6 pm in the Port City.

Tuskegee (11-15, 11-7 SIAC) defeated Albany State 3-1 in their last match, and right now are locked into the second seed in the SIAC West Division behind only Kentucky State who they have split with this season. The Lady Golden Tigers and Spring Hill (26-5, 17-0 SIAC) have met once this season with the Badgers coming away with the 3-0 victory inside Chappie James Arena in October.

The Lady Golden Tigers are led by a trio of seniors offensively, with a pair of those – Jessica Johnson and Taliyana Bryant – near the top of the conference in kills with 200-plus. Johnson leads the way with 226, while Bryant has added 219 – including 20 against Clark Atlanta last weekendd. Fellow freshman Shakayia Wilson has added 181 kills, whie Donovan Wingfield has added 154 this season.

Janae Graham leads the conference in assists, totaling 796 and averaging 8.65 this season. She has assisted on all but 151 kills this season for Tuskegee, while also adding 29 service aces and 159 digs this season. Meanwhile, preseason All-SIAC selection Zahria Radford leads Tuskegee defensively with 444 digs (averaging 4.83 per set) and leading the SIAC.
