Perry Co. Celebrates Annual Obama Holiday

Hundreds of people turnout for the 8th Annual Obama Day celebration Monday in Perry County.
The county-wide holiday celebrates the historic 2008 election of Barack Obama as the country’s first black president.
“In my mind he leaves a legacy of truth. He leaves a legacy of honesty and he leaves a legacy of knowing how to lead people and giving everybody a fair chance in life,” said Perry County resident Oscar Ford.
All county offices and schools were closed for the holiday.
The annual parade highlighted the day’s events.
The Obama Day Unity Dinner featured gospel recording artist Jakalyn Carr was held at the Albert Turner Elementary gym on the campus of Francis Marion School.
