Troy women’s hoops ready for home opener tip
TROY, Ala. (troytrojans.com) – The Troy women’s basketball team looks to rebound from a season opening loss as it plays host to Belmont at noon on Wednesday at Trojan Arena.
The special tip time is in place to allow area elementary and high school students a chance to join the Trojans. Admission is FREE to all fans. The game is being played as part of the Partnership for a Healthier America’s “Drink Up” campaign and all children in attendance will receive a free bottle of water and fruit.
The Trojans fell to Auburn, 61-52, to open the season last Friday. Caitlyn Ramirez turned in a memorable performance as she set the Troy Division I single-game record with 20 rebounds. Claresa Banks posted nine rebounds, one shy of tying her career-high. Jayla Chills checked in with six boards and eight points.
Belmont defeated Fort Wayne, 85-59, in its season opener, but fell to No. 5 Louisville, 73-50, on Sunday. The Bruins finished last season with a 24-9 record and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
