Toy Drive Ends Friday
We, at Alabama News Network, want to make sure no child goes without, this Christmas. Our Magical Christmas Toy Drive is coming to a close, and we need your help.
Our toys in our magical Toy Vault will soon be packed up, sorted and shipped out to kids across the River Region.
“We’ll have about 500 families by the time we are finished. We will deal with food and toys and it’s a little over 11 hundred children,” said Major Walter Strong with the Salvation Army.
Eleven hundred children like Tabitha Floyd’s son.
“It’s good because I didn’t have anything to give my son, and they helped me out a whole lot,” said Floyd.
Once all the toy donations are gathered and packed up, volunteers will sort the toys at a warehouse and separate them by gender and age.
Depending on how many toys the Salvation Army has, 2 or 3 toys will be given to each child on their list and delivered on Tuesday.
And Major Strong says if you are thinking about giving, there is one particular age group that needs the most help.
“Girls 9 to 12. I know they are tough to buy for. But if you will consider girls 9 to 12, those are the age groups we really will probably need a lot of,” said Strong.
