CGI To Expand With New Training Facility
CGI’s ongoing partnership with the city of Troy and Troy University continues.
The Canadian Global IT Company is expanding once again with a new training facility.
“I guess you could call it a good problem, we grew so much here that we had to expand from our original 50 thousand square feet to take up 60 thousand square feet of the facility here – part of that was our training facility that we previously used,” says director George Tarbox.
That space is now work space for employees which is why a new training facility is needed which will be used by the company and Troy University.
“It’s going to one large meeting room capable of holding a hundred plus people and three smaller classrooms as well as office space for Troy’s IT department,” says Tarbox.
Tarbox believes the 2.4 million dollar facility is much needed after seeing so much growth in the company since starting here in Troy in 2010.”
“Right now we’re somewhere north of four hundred employees,” says Tarbox.
Those employees range from students to people that have been working for the company for several years.
“It will help quite a bit for having large training classes, if we need to have all-hands meeting with everybody with everybody in one area, it will help quite a bit,” says Tarbox.
Leaders say the facility is another step in the growth and commitment to economic development.
Construction for the new facility starts next week. It’s expected to be done in October.
