Golden Apple: Katy Elliott

Our Golden Apple Award Winner this week comes from the Crenshaw County School System. As the 6th grade science and social studies teacher at Highland Home School, Katy Elliott says a lot has changed in her 24 years of years teaching, and offers these words of advice to anyone interested in becoming an educator.

“Anyone that is thinking about becoming a teachers…the kids know if you truly care about them and are genuinely concerned about their welfare and you want them to succeed. Let them know that you care, because they will see through it if you don’t,” says Elliott.

Congratulations Ms. Elliott! If you know of a great educator we should recognize, you can nominate them by going to our website, Alabama News dot Net, click on the “Golden Apple” banner and fill out the nomination form.
