City of Prattville Receives Grant for Celebration of the Arts

The City of Prattville is pleased to announce that the Prattville Creative and Performing Arts Council has
received a grant of $10,000 from the Alabama State Council on the Arts (ASCA), the state arts agency.
This grant will allow the City of Prattville and the Prattville Arts Council to once again sponsor a
Celebration of the Arts in 2018. This Celebration will include the following activities: the Annual Honoree Dinner,
held in honor of those who have made an impact on the Arts in Alabama; the Pops’ Annual March Madness Concert;
a special exhibition of works and opening reception at the Creative Arts Center and Gallery; a free Children’s Art
Workshop; a Plein Air Painting Event; two in-school workshops; and the Wilson Pickett Music and Arts Festival.
Most of these events will occur in the month of March, with some falling in early April, and one in early
May. Most of these events are free and open to the public, increasing the number of arts activities available to the
citizens of Prattville during that time. It is important to us that arts experiences are available to everyone.

Formerly called the Fountain City Arts Festival, the Wilson Pickett Music and Arts Festival will be held on
April 7, 2018. The goal is to grow the festival, offering more free activities to families while also providing a greater
opportunity for artists to exhibit and sell their work and a platform for local musical talent. We also hope to honor
the memory of Wilson Pickett as part of the three-year Alabama Bicentennial Celebration in the year of “honoring
our people.”
This grant makes this growth possible.
