- Alabama ranks as the 3rd deadliest state in the country when it comes to speeding-related fatalities. There are 6.52 speeding-related fatalities per 100,000 residents, which is more than DUI fatalities in the state.
- How Did Your Neighbours Fare? Comparatively, there are nearly 3-6x more speeding-related fatalities in Alabama than Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, and Tennessee. All four neighbouring states ranked among the bottom 20 states for speeding fatalities.
- Speeding is the leading cause of fatal crashes in the state: Over 30% of all fatalities in Alabama could be attributed to speeding, in part because the high speeds can turn a minor mishap into a fatal accident.
