Two missing after boat crash on Lake Jordan

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency says two people are missing after a boat crash on Lake Jordan late last night.

ALEA Marine Patrol Troopers are on the scene. ALEA has told Alabama News Network that Alexander City Search and Rescue will be on scene with their Kongsberg Sonar system. Elmore County Dive team and Montgomery Fire Dive Team will be assisting with the search.

“The families, I’ve spoken with both of them today. They’re here and we’re trying to keep them updated on everything. Of course it’s a very somber situation for them and we’re trying to do the best we can to help them in this situation,” said Capt. Gary Buchanan of ALEA Marine Patrol.

Dive teams are searching in the Weoka Creek area. That is about a half mile from the staging area at the marina.

The crash was caused when two boats collided. Five people were injured. Three of them had minor injuries, while the two others were taken to a hospital.
