Impeachment of Trump Puts Sen. Doug Jones in a Bind

U.S. Sen. Doug Jones is headed into a tough election fight that he wants to keep focused on his record.

But he may have to talk about impeachment.

Already considered the Senate’s most endangered Democrat, the impeachment inquiry is adding a new complication to the Deep South race.

Seeing an opportunity, Republicans have tried to ramp up the pressure on Jones, asking that he say how he’ll vote if the issue ever lands in the Senate.

Jones criticized partisan posturing issues, saying there needs to be time to review the facts.

The Alabama Democrat said in a town hall that if the issue gets to the Senate that, “will vote my conscience based on the evidence and not the politics of anything.”
