Monday afternoon, State Wildlife officials held an information meeting on Chronic Wasting Disease. Chronic wasting disease is a fatal disease affecting several species of the deer family, including the prized white-tailed deer. State officials have confirmed that Chronic Wasting Disease has been detected in a white-tailed deer in Lauderdale County. This is the first case of CWD in Alabama’s herd.
