Montgomery Judge : Fired LEAD Academy Principal to be Added Back to the Schools Payroll

On Thursday Judge Jimmy Pool granted a temporary restraining order in favor of Dr. Nicole Ivey-Price. The restraining order requires Ivey-Price to be added back to payroll. An education advocate has been elected to fill an Alabama House seat. According to preliminary results from the Secretary of State’s Office, Republican Charlotte Meadows is the winner of Tuesday’s special election. Meadows defeated Democrat Rayford Mack, 68% to 31%. First Day of School at LEAD Academy

Monday was the first day of school for students at LEAD Academy, Montgomery’s first charter school. LEAD Academy is a K-5 charter school.  Today we were with parents and students, as they went into their classrooms for the first time.  Some families are new to Montgomery, others have been here and say they needed another school option for their children….

LEAD Academy Renovations Continue

Monday was the first day of training for teachers at LEAD Academy, Montgomery’s first charter school.   The school will open August 19th, but the building is still undergoing renovations. Montgomery’s first charter school most likely won’t open in 2018 after a judge rules it didn’t receive enough votes for its application. The Alabama Education Association sued charter school LEAD Academy after the Alabama Public Charter School Commission in February approved the charter school in a 5 to 1 vote.
